Zoned layers can be manually created or edited in PCT using the Zone Painting tool. The video and article below will show how to use the Zone Painting tool.
To manually create a new zoned layer, in the View tool, click the Toolbox button in the top left corner of the map window. Then, select the 'Zone Painting' tab in the Toolbox pane.
To manually edit a zoned layer, load the layer in the View tool, click the 'Options' menu next to the layer, and click 'Edit in Zone Paint'.
You can have a background layer pulled up under the Zone Painting tool to base the zones on. The opacity of the background layer as well as the painted zones can be changed using their respective sliders. The painted zones can be toggled on and off with the 'Show Paint Canvas' selection box.
To add a zone to the map, click 'Add New Zone to Canvas'. Multiple polygons can be created under one zone. The brush, fill bucket, eraser, polygon, rectangle, and circle tools allow you to add and edit zones.
Any zone that overlaps the field boundary will be clipped to the boundary. Select the 'Lock' option to have a zoned be locked in place. This will make any new zone that overlaps the locked zone to be clipped to the boundary of the locked zone.
Click the 'Undo' button to undo an action. Use the trash can button to delete a zone. Use the 'Clear all zones' button to delete all zones.
Add and edit zone names under the Name column.
When finished, choose a date and save as a Painted Zones Layer or as a Management Zones Layer. Once the layer has been saved you can create an Rx from the layer or create surfacing zones for soil sampling.
