Pivot Design

This tool allows you to designate between dryland and irrigated areas within a field.

Steps:

1. In the Zone/Locate Tool, click the 'Pivot Design' tab and select a field. An estimate of the pivot will be applied automatically to the field based off of the field boundary.

2. If the estimated shape is incorrect, there are three ways to alter it; these are listed below.

  1. If you know the center coordinates and radius of the pivot, you can enter them in the lines to the right of the circle.
  2. You can click and drag on the center point to move the shape manually.
  3. In the satellite image below the pivot design, click and drag from the center of the pivot to the outer edge of the pivot. This will update the measurements of the pivot design above.

4. You can choose between a circular or rectangular shape.

5. To designate a dryland or irrigated area, click the red or green circle in the upper left of the window and click 'Fill circle' or 'Fill rectangle'.

6. If the pivot does not complete a full rotation, enter the start and stop angles.

7. If you would like to add more than one shape, move the shape to the next location after you have clicked 'Fill circle' for the first shape.

8. When finished, click 'Save layer'.
